CSR internal staff development

Over 70 Expedition Leaders and Expedition Medics joined us for three days at our annual staff training event in deepest darkest Dorset.

It was ATD's eighth such event and topics covered include numerous casualty and first aid scenarios utilising the local rivers, woods and roads, group management skills, navigation, water safety and safety on steep ground amongst other topics.   Adding to the mix a former CO of UK Special Forces gave a great presentation as well as Nick Arding OBE himself a former commander of a Royal Marine commando and the leader of the successful Royal Navy and Marines Expedition to Everest in 2003.

Nicks talk concentrated on the stresses within a group on such an expedition and the rescue of Australian climber facing certain death but rescued by his team- the highest rescue ever effected.

The rain held off and all-in-all a great weekend was had by all and we look forward Christmas staff together and training.
