How to use community projects for team building and team events.

From our experience of using community projects as part of a team building event, we know a number of key criteria must be achieved. The project must:

R be a genuine shared experience for all the team members

Our team will ensure that your event is organised to guarantee maximum value. At the delivery stage, there will be an explicit, yet subtle transition of the ownership and organisation of the project to your team. This is done to ensure the participants feel engaged to deliver the best possible outcomes for the charity.

R be a worthwhile and sustainable cause

It is through our intimate relationship with the charity sector and our network of carefully selected project partners that we are able to guarantee high quality, sustainable projects.  We do not make up projects for the sake of running projects.  By working with our network, both in the UK and overseas, we provide real local projects that address real needs, are of real value and will be supported and maintained for the long term.

R be ‘ready to go’ on the day

We provide significant logistical and administrative support to every event. From sourcing new projects, undertaking site visits, completing risk assessments and detailed project management. It is the planning that will ensure that when your team arrive to commence the project, everything is ready to go. It is this support that ensures that you can be involved in the key planning decisions without interrupting your day job.

R involve and include all team members

Through our structured and rigorous planning stages, we will ensure that the project selected will be of the appropriate size and challenge for your team. This will be one of the early considerations before we start sourcing the potential projects.

R be technically achievable by the team completing it

A good project must feel like a challenge and a stretch for the team. A bad project is one that is technically beyond the team. We work very closely with the project partner to ensure their requirements are achievable by the team. Where necessary, we engage the services of technical experts to support the Across the Divide team.

R have a constant focus on health and safety.

We conduct project risk assessments early in the planning process and use them as a key measure for selecting the most appropriate project. The delivery stage will commence with a comprehensive safety briefing for all participants and then specific briefings are given throughout the day. Our team are all highly experienced in the use of delivering projects and managing large groups.
